Method

FILLING
  1. In a large bowl, mix together chopped almonds, sweetened condensed milk, extracts, and coconut.
  2. Form 1 inch balls with your hands or with the help of a cookie scoop. Place on baking sheets lined with wax paper and refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until firm.
CHOCOLATE
  1. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler until smooth.
  2. When balls are set, dip in chocolate and place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Immediately, sprinkle just a few pieces of sea salt on top (careful not to add too much). Then, add a few flakes of coconut on top of the salt.
  3. Let sit until dry.
STORAGE
  1. Store covered in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.

PERFECT HOMEMADE GIFT: For me, nothing says 'happy holidays' like a heartfelt gift from the kitchen. One of my favorite traditions is whipping up a batch of these beautiful chocolate candies to share with our family and friends. They're a simple yet elegant way to package up a little sweetness for the people you love.
